The Despots

The Despots was my first music project that formed in 2015 here in Albuquerque, NM. In the years since The Despots have grown in both popularity and musical maturity, playing festivals such as Rockabilly on the Route in Tucumcari, NM, and Rockabillaque in Charleston, SC. In 2018 we recorded our self-titled album "The Despots," and were voted The Best Band of 2017 by The Weekly Alibi.

The Despots include blues, rock and roll, jazz, and outlaw country, all with a punk attitude. But our biggest goal has always just been to write good f*cking music.

There is so much beautiful inspiration in New Mexico, especially with its rich musical history. A lot of people forget that Buddy Holly recorded with Norman Petty in Clovis, NM, and that Route 66 has been mentioned in many classic songs because it was a main thoroughfare for traveling bands like Johnny Cash and early Elvis.

From day one it's been an awesome journey, and I absolutely love working with such talented musicians who are always eager to challenge themselves and me.
